Ken Matheson

Ken worked for Combustion Engineering for 36 years before
retiring to the Sunshine Coast in 2000 where he continued to
work as a boiler consultant.  Ken has always had a great love of
sports and is a former Senior Mens Canadian Overall Water Ski
Champion and a holds two Canadian records in Slalom and Jump.

Ken is a Past President of the West Porpoise Bay Community
Association, and when he isn't working for the West Sechelt
Community Association he is often playing darts.
Ron Harrington

In his professional life Ron worked his way up the food chain in
the TV business, latterly trying to balance roles as a senior
administrator with his love of production.  He has received
international awards for  his documentaries and ‘BC Moments’.

His Board experience spans private companies, national
associations and regional foundations.  He is in his second term
as secretary to the WSCA.

The Harringtons have been part time residents of the Sunshine
Coast for 40 years, Since retiring Ron has inadvertently taken
up gardening as his prime hobby while rowing his old Davidson
12 is now number 2.  Ron has two adult children and has lived in
West Sechelt since 2006 with wife Barbara and their big  fuzzy
cat.
Gail Riddell

Gail is in her eighth year of living on the Coast. She puts her
concerns about sustainability to work in a variety of ways
through the West Sechelt Community Association board and the
Sunshine Coast Conservation Association (Vice-chair). She has
been directly involved in committees and boards at the local
Capilano College campus for over seven years. When not
volunteering, she sings in a choir, attempts to play guitar,
gardens, travels, paddles/coaches with two dragon boat teams,
kayaks, spends summer times at her remote cottage and is
often in Vancouver with family and friends.  Before moving to
the Coast, Gail was at UBC for 23 years, running a teaching
enhancement centre for faculty and graduate students.
Marguerite Johnson

Marguerite is a retired Respiratory Community Nurse. She was
employed with the Victorian Order of Nurses and the North
Shore Board of Health for numerous years. She is a committee
member of the Sunshine Coast Clean Air Society and a
volunteer member of the SC Hospice Society.   

Marguerite has a great appreciation for nature, the outdoors
and our environment. She is a member of the Natural History
Society, the SC Conservation Association, The Sechelt Garden
Club, and the SC Spinners and Weavers Guild. She enjoys
gardening, sailing, birding, textile arts, reading, hiking and
family gatherings. She has four adult children and four
grandchildren. Marguerite resides in West Sechelt with her
husband, Doug, and their dog, Molly.
Alexis Harrington

Alexis has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (Honours)
from UBC and a Diploma of Business Administration from
Capilano College.  Her back ground is in advertising and
creative writing, and Alexis is now a proud employee of the
Sunshine Coast Credit Union.

Alexis is an avid reader, a dabbling gardener, and a learning
birder. She has a great passion for photography and enjoys
anything that involves smelling salt water in the air. Her newest
hobby is trying to find a better photograph of herself.

Alexis was raised in Vancouver and is now a very happy
resident of West Sechelt.
David Johnston
     
David is a retired lawyer, having practised law in Vacouver
for about 35 years, before retiring to West Sechelt in 1993, with
wife Mary Ellen.

In Vancouver, he was active in Community affairs, having
served; in the Naval Reserve for 23 years, as Chancellor of
St.John Ambulance, and as chairman of the B.C. Corps of
Commisionaires. In Sechelt, apart from assisting Mary Ellen in
the garden, and when weather permits, he enjoys tennis, golf,
and boating.  He has served as chairman of the Suncoast
Raquet Club, which is in the process of completing an indoor
tennis facility near  the Arena. He also served with Gail on the
Sunshine Coast Elder College Board.

An opportunity to participate as a member of the West Sechelt
Community Association is an added bonus to life on the
Sunshine Coast.
